Day 1 Arrive Paro |
During the flight, one will experience breathtaking views of Mt.
Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks like the sacred
Mt. Jhumolhari & Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival you will be
received by the representative of Shangri-La Bhutan Tours &Treks.

Day 2 Paro Sightseeing |
|

|
After breakfast drive to Drugyel dzong, the
ruined fortress which once defended Paro Valley from Tibetan
Invasion. This fortress now a burnt shell once strategic in
Bhutan's defense against Tibetan invasion. Mt. Jhumolhari (7314
m.) a sacred mountain can be seen on the background of the
fortress on a clear day. On the way beck visit the courtyard of
the 7th century Kiychu monastery. After lunch visit the National
Museum, Paro Dzong and a Farm
House. O/n hotel. |

Day 3 Excursion To Taktsang Monastry |
|
Spend a full day hiking to the famous Taktsang
the Tiger's Nest. This magical monastery clings to vertical
granite cliff 3000 m. above the valley floor. Legend says that
Guru Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a Tigress hence the
name to meditate. The tigress was actually his favorite consort,
Yeshey Tsogyal, whom he transformed into a flying tigress for the
purpose of his journey. Riding horses can be arranged to go up.

Day 4 Paro - Jeledzong (Trek Begins) |
|
Distance is 6-7 km. - Altitude 8500 ft. The
trek trail is rather gradual till the weather is clear the Paro
Valley can be seen with the snow-capped mountains. O/n camp. |

Day 5 Jeledzong - Jangchulakha |
|
Distance - 10 km. Altitude - 9500 ft. The trek
begins an hour & a half climb and ascends gradually up. The trail
takes you through a thick alpine forest and rhododendrons trees.
You may see Yaks around the campsite. O/n camp. |

Day 6 Jangchulakha - Jimilangsto |
|
Distance - 11 km. Altitude - 11000 ft. The
trail follows the ridge and on a clear day the views of the
mountains and the valley are beautiful. The camp is close to the
Lake of Jimilangtso. These lakes are known for their giant sized
trout. O/n camp. |

Day 7 Jimilangsto - Simkota |
|
Distance - 11 km. Alt. - 11500 ft. The trail
takes you through dwarf Rhododendron trees and then pass by the
lake of Janetso. Today you may come across some Yak Herders camp
and you can really have a look as how these people live. Camp is
close to Simkota Lake filled with trout. |

Day 8 Simkota - Phajoding |
|
Distance - 10 km. Alt. - 9500 ft. Today you
begin with a gradual climb and if the weather permits you will
have a beautiful views of Mt. Gangkar Punsum the highest in Bhutan
and also other Himalayan Mountains. The slow descends will reach
you at Phajoding cafeteria. O/n cafeteria or camp. |

Day 9 Phajoding - Thimphu |
|
Distance - 7-8 km. Alt. - 8050 ft. The trek to
Thimphu is all the way down through a forested area of mostly Blue
Pine. Taking leisurely you will reach in about 3 hours. O/n hotel. |

Day 10 Thimphu - Sightseeing |
|
A full day sightseeing and shopping in Thimphu.
Wander in the town, visit the Handicraft emporium. Visit the
Memorial Chorten, Zilukha Nunnery and the Tashichodzong. O/n
hotel. |

Day 11 Thimphu - Punakha / Wangdue / Back |
|
A full day excursion to Punakha and Wangdue
valleys across Dochula Pass. On Clear day you can view the whole
range of the snow capped northern Himalayas. O/n hotel. |

Day 12 Thimphu - Paro / Departure |
|
Early morning drive to Paro for onward flight. |
